Biguerlai Slimming Tea

Diets Don't Work

Diets Don't WorkMary heard from a friend how she lost 10 lbs quickly by drinking a slimming tea. Who wouldn’t want to do that? So several days later Mary starts to suffer allergic and gastrointestinal symptoms. She really wanted to reach her goal so she overlooked the body’s warning signs and continued another week on the slimming tea. She had to be rushed to emergency for severe headaches, muscle and abdominal pains. Turns out she was dehydrated and had lost minerals that caused muscle cramps. As a practicing Chiropractor in the Philippines, I have to ask why do people do that… to compromise their health for a short-term weight loss goal? People seeking online for solutions to constipation can find more natural and safer options than taking Biguerlai Tea. We encourage you to keep looking.

The facts:
Senna is the ingredient found in the Biguerlai Slimming Tea she was drinking. Biguerlai Tea comes from the Philippines and can be used to effectively treat constipation; but the side effects out weigh its use for any type of weight loss by causing abdominal cramping, discomfort, diarrhea and nausea, according to Drugs.com. They also report that it’s possible to suffer an allergic reaction to senna; side effects including: hives, itching, tightness in your chest, difficulty breathing, or a swollen mouth, tongue, face or lips. Several case studies indicate that chronic senna use may cause severe liver damage. Published in the July 2005 issue of “The Annals of Pharmacotherapy.”

Biguerlai Tea can be dangerous if taken in large doses. It can cause the consumer to lose important vitamins and minerals needed. It can also lead to dehydration of the individual. The directions for Biguerlai Tea are to consume one cup of tea in the morning or before bedtime. It is cautioned not to consume more than one serving per day. The benefits of consuming Biguerlai Tea do not seem to be effective as a weight loss supplement. The side effects of consuming this tea are extremely negative compared to the benefits unless constipation is the ailment the consumer is trying to treat. Biguerlai Tea can cause serious discomfort according to Dietspotlight.com.

In summary:
Advantages:      Biguerlai Tea can be used to effectively treat constipation.
Disadvantages: Consuming Biguerlai Tea can cause serious discomfort, is not an effective weight loss treatment and does not contain a fat burner or an appetite suppressant.

I repeat the question: “Why do people compromise their health for a short-term weight loss goal?” Please read the other articles posted on this wellness blog by typing in “weight loss” in the search box above the calendar seen to the top right of the page. Hello Doc,

I had taken the said tea last night. I was desperate for being constipated for about four days i think and my friend told me yesterday to drink the tea because it is effective for me to be able to defacate. Indeed i was able to pass bowel but with very painful stomach cramps, I was awaken around 2am by the pain and had trouble sleeping until 5am that i was able to defacate but when i drink coffee in the morning the pain went back again and again until I defacate,.. this tea is effective for constipation but such pain is a burden…tzkk..
I wonder if you can help me doc with my constipation problem? I have been like this ever since i can remember. I drink adequate amount of water everyday.
    thank you po, Mari 🙂

      Hello Mari,

Your question on resolving the recurring constipation is a far better comment than seeking a temporary remedy that resorts to ingestion of a mild poison to get the bowels moving. A sad situation for sure. Every week in my holistic practice there will be a patient who comments on how their constipation problem is finally under control. How did this happen? Their condition was tied to their lower back problem, after all that’s where the nerves that go to the colon come from; so it’s no surprise to me that the correction of their lumbo-pelvic condition restored normal nerve function to that body region and voila! normal bowel movements; and this happens without treating the constipation, just restoring normal function… all done without risky remedies or without dangerous drugs.

Therefore I surmise that you have never had your spine properly checked by a Doctor of Chiropractic. That would be the smart, next step as a possible solution to your constipation condition. You may have the opportunity to see me for that evaluation by checking our clinic website for the nearest location; that would be at http://www.chiropractic.com.ph

    hi doctor,
is it okay to take this tea everyday to prevent constipation? You see, i don’t have a normal bowel movement, sometimes it will take me like days from the day i discharge till i discharge again. then i saw this product in the television and was thinking of trying it myself. but is it safe to take it everyday?

thank you and hope to hear from you soon 🙂

      Dear Liyah,

Occasional constipation is a part of life but regular constipation is NOT NORMAL. To keep treating a problem symptomatically, especially by taking a poison-type of herb is bordering on insanity; sorry if I am blunt. Two things to do right away:
      1. Get a colonoscopy to see what is wrong with your colon, to be sure there are no polyps or something.
      2. Get a chiropractic check up to look at the lower spine where the nerves to your colon come from.

The second suggestion comes from the simple fact that, as a 34 year chiropractor, it is very common for my patients to tell me that their constipation went away after I resolved their lower spine issues. If you have some lower back symptoms then that proves my point. If there are no lower back pains or stiffness, there still may be something to consider, if not nerves, then nutritional or fitness related. Having a naturalistic, holistic doctor looking at your health challenges is not just cool but pretty smart as well.

    Hi doctor..

I just want to know is biguerlai tea safe in planning to have a baby?
I am constipated and the only way is biguerlai tea. Before i am taking pills and injectables, but now I’m planning to have a baby. It really confuses me coz I’m afraid that it can harm my baby. Yet I’m not sure if I’m really pregnant now. Coz my expected period is on Dec 1. Hope you can help me.

      Dear Lexi,
There are two sides to this story: one about how to get temporary relief and two how to avoid being constipated regularly. Which one are you interested in? It looks like the first one and considering the pregnancy I cannot recommend drinking a tea that works because of the poison in it. Do a search engine on “natural remedies for constipation” and there are dozens of safe, natural remedies you can try.

I am more interested in discussing with you how to live a healthy normal life without constipation period! Pregnancy is an important time in a woman’s life when she has the opportunity to step up and improve her personal life habits. Your diet may need much improvement to normalize your bowel movements but if that isn’t the problem then I need to check your lower spine for abnormal nerve supply to your large intestines. As a Doctor of Chiropractic (www.chiropractic.com.ph) I see very few patients who have constipation that don’t return to normal because their lower spine is fixed. These are my thoughts. Be well, docMIKE

Hi doc and to the readers of this blog. I just wanna share my experience with drinking Biguerlai tea.

I used to weigh 104 kgs. and after drinking this tea for 2 months (everyday, 1 tea bag a day; sometimes 2 teabags if I eat too much) I am now at 83 kgs. I’m still drinking this tea upto now. I admit I experienced several discomforts during the first 2 weeks. Just a piece of advice, don’t drink this tea if you have not eaten anything 2 hrs prior. I have a friend who had ulcer because of this tea and it’s because she does not eat at all (she calls it starvation diet) and she drinks this tea at the same time. So just make sure that you eat something. When I reach my desired weight, I’m planning to go to the gym. My target is 75 kgs.

    Thanks and nice blog doc!

Dear Seth, Thank you for sharing your story as it likely represents how the majority of people who use this product can justify their decision to do so. As a person reduces the calories that do not get absorbed with the diarrhea caused by this product there is a relative starvation of essential bio-nutrients that also do not get absorbed but necessary for maintaining health. I remain concerned about the physical effects and of course how long you will keep that weight off, considering the circumstances. The reported side effects are quite common as you indicate happened to you and your friend, yet Biguerlai Tea continues to advertise that their product is good for fitness and health with “NO SIDE EFFECTS” as we still hear today on their radio ads. This is deceptive advertising, plain and simple. Your own experiences tells it all.

A small hand clap for losing weight in this manner, but may I refer to the last part of your comment about planning to go to the gym when you reach the desired weight. We justify a wrong approach to health because of a weak personal philosophy in health. You would have performed better with your weight loss had you begun exercising at the very beginning. Saying you will do it after is an excuse for not doing it now and in truth, the chances are very high you will not get around to it then either. Don’t you think? Sorry if I am straight forward.

What I pray happens is that more people like you will stumble on my blog and find a trustworthy site to raise your IQ on health matters and evolve a better, stronger personal Philosophy on Health. If I may invite you to change course, take new advise and research my other blogs on how to safely lose weight. Type in the SEARCH BOX key words like “weight loss” and “metabolism” and “energy” to expose yourself to very current wellness information. I believe you will be happy you did.

Hi, im currently trying to adopt a healthy diet ie. avoiding pork, sweets, and some carbs; eating in smaller proportions; increasing water intake; plus i’ve been put on metformin by my doctor because of my PCOS. hubby and i are planning to get pregnant by end of this year.

is it okay to take biguerlai once a week for just one month for detox purposes? because iv been eating less, i get to poop only every other day. can i take it with metformin? i take metformin once a day at 500mg but starting next week the dose will be increased to 1000mg a day.

by the way i have already lost 7 pounds in 4 weeks because of my trying to adopt a healthy diet. thanks!

Hi Kia, Bugerlai Tea is a toxin so how will that help you detoxify? Bugerlai Tea is NOT what you need, especially since you are looking to get pregnant, but I see you are at least making real life style changes that are already showing positive results with weight loss. I hope you continue to raise your IQ on healthy ways to lose weight. In fact there is no better source to do so than our Blog. Type in key words like “weight loss” and “metabolic syndrome” and “energy management” to find the blogs that cover the information you are seeking.

PCOS is commonly the result of metabolic syndrome: Glycemic stress and oxidative stress. This happens to most people because they are overweight. We make excuses for obesity but just because there is no Medical Disease present the damage is ongoing. The ovaries are not the only organ affected by metabolic syndrome so you are encouraged to lose weight now but only using safe methods. The sooner you normalize your weight to what you were weighing at age 21 (yes that low) your PCOS will reverse and you will avert Diabetes all together. I pray you are successful at restoring normal weight before you get pregnant and that you insist on restoring that weight after you have your baby.

      Warmest regards,
      docMIKE

Hello doc! I have been drinking this tea when since college but i do not drink it regularly. I mean, I just drink it every time I find my tummy big because of constipation. Honestly speaking, this is an effective remedy for constipation and also it could really give you a sexy tummy. I did not suffer the stated side effects except for stomach cramps because I also made it sure that I had a balanced diet. Whenever you drink this, make sure that you will not have an empty stomach, you eat fruits and drink a lot of water.

Dear Sarajane, Thank you for your post. My question to you then is why does constipation return in the first place if it is not lifestyle related? What you may not realize is how your confession that by just having a good diet that restricts white flour and white sugar, by eating fruit for fiber and drinking a lot of water is enough to resolve your constipation without the need to subject your GI tract with the toxin Senna. Sadly, people use the ‘tea’ to diet and they do not eat well, in fact they starve them selves and suffer the consequences. I recommend to just keep up the good eating habits you put yourself into the right position to never really have to worry about constipation in the first place. About keeping a sexy stomach, try regular exercise! docMIKE

    Hi doc!

I’m now on my 8th week of my pregnancy. I just like to ask since I had been drinking this tea on my first week of my pregnancy since i had no idea was pregnant then. I was feeling bloated and thought it was just a simple constipation that i had to treat so i was driking beguerlai for straight 1week before i found out i was pregnant. I am worried if that would make any harm to my baby? Thank you and God bless!

Dear Jessie, Senna is a mild toxin that causes diarrhea. I cannot say I have read reports that Senna is toxic enough to hurt a growing fetus. It does cause diarrhea and that means the body absorbs too little of the nutrients from your foods. This can affect the body’s reserves of bio nutrients that will make a difference in the baby’s growth and the mother’s overall health. Hope that helps you.
On another topic, If you experience pains or other non-OB related health problems during the pregnancy I want to also let you know that chiropractic is very effective in relieving most pains and helping other health issues that may be a problem because the mother cannot take drugs during the pregnancy and since chiropractic never prescribes medications it’s good to know you have some alternative options, if needed. docMIKE

Dear Conie, You may not have read my entire blog so I will just tell you that the product has only helped some people with their constipation but it does so because it makes the body react like it does to a poison and gives you diarrhea to push out the poison. There are also safer ways to treat constipation you can ask your doctors and lifestyle is also a factor: Read this – http://www.docmikeblog.com/wellness-focus-food-combining/
If you are drinking the tea to lose weight there are much safer ways to do that. Read this: http://docmikeblog.com/pdf/top10_weight_loss_blogs.pdf Take care, docMIKE

No, there would not be any direct connection on your menstruation cycle from drinking the tea but the diarrhea can cause malnutrition of essential minerals that can affect your body in a variety of ways that would not be considered as a side effect; for example it may partly contribute to anemia with low iron after excessive bleeding and poor iron uptake, etc.

Thank you for sharing this doc. I have problem defecating since I stopped working. I don’t exercise regularly, perhaps this was the reason. I have upper and lower back pains perhaps this is due to improper sitting. I wonder how much is it to pay a chiropractic practitioner?

Not to our knowledge would drinking Senna affect your menstrual cycle or affect the flow of blood. If your cycle is irregular you might consider having your lower spine checked by a chiropractor. Many female problems can result from nerve interference caused by spinal misalignments. If your lower back is stiff or painful at times, then there may be a connection to look into there. You can read more at http://www.chiropractic.com.ph
