docMIKE Tetrault Retires From Practice

docMIKE Tetrault Retires From Practice

This month docMIKE turns 65 years of age. Born in Canada in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 27, 1952 he grew up with his family of 8 other siblings and both parents until his marriage at only 18 years of age to his high school sweetheart. Michel undertook his studies into chiropractic graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1979 from Life Chiropractic College. He retires from active practice after 38 years of service; 27 years in the United States and 11 years in the Philippines several years following re-marriage to a Filipina (Apple) in 1999. One legacy will come as their daughter Jazmine will continue in her father’s footsteps as a Chiropractor once completing the required education.

docMIKE states he is just shifting his focus from practicing chiropractic onto the development of the chiropractic profession in Asia and in support of other pioneer chiropractors worldwide. He continues his work as Founder and Executive Director of the Chiropractic Diplomatic Corps, a non-profit based in Vancouver, Canada. There are ongoing projects in India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Russia and even in the United States.

The promotion of chiropractic education worldwide is the single most important work docMIKE will continue to promote. Until there are chiropractic colleges in every region and in every viable nation that can support the establishment of the profession, the CDC-Chiro will persevere in facilitating the key players in accomplishing this essential component for the sustainable development of the chiropractic profession.

Yes, in case you were wondering, docMIKE’s Blog will continue to be an outlet to educate the public about the value of personal responsibility for one’s health and to provide information, education and practical tools to help people accomplish that personal objective. You will still be able to look forward to further blogs as we enter the 4th year of the publication of docMIKE’s Blog.

Mabuhay Chiropractic Clinics has become the major provider of chiropractic services in the Philippines. Until there is a local chiropractic college training bright young Filipinos and Filipinas in this country, we will continue to import dedicated Doctors of Chiropractic to serve the Filipino people. We will then turn our focus on assisting new Pinoy graduates to accomplish successful practices throughout the nation.

A warm and pleasant thank you award for docMIKE’s years of service was presented to him during MCC’s 10th year Anniversary in SM City Bacoor just this past month.

docMIKE’s retirement is only the  means of re-tooling of his skills to serve the same vision of a better world through the benefits of chiropractic.

Children and Chiropractic Care

Children and Chiropractic Care

Child development markers are critical for lifelong health and pediatricians are tasked to monitor children for abnormalities in development. Chiropractors perform a critical specialist role in spinal development such as scoliosis.
There are severe deforming cases of scoliosis and there are functional cases. Chiropractic brings a depth of expertise that prevents the need for spinal surgery and provides true preventive health services for children.
Spinal misalignments begin for most people during childhood. The active life of a child makes them prone to multiple injuries that may seen innocent enough but in truth set the foundation for the spinal misalignemnts chiropractors find in adult patients.

Add Accountability to Your New Year’s Resolutions

Add Accountability to Your New Year’s Resolutions

The common social activity when January 1 rolls around is the feeling of “new hope” or the ability to “start again” with a new resolve. We give certain issues a higher priority, even make the proverbial new year’s resolution or commitment. This a healthy human trait, one that says: “Today s the first day of the rest of my life!” In all matters of life where we succeed there is always a driving force I call FOCUS. That is a topic of an earlier blog I suggest you also read today.

The present word of wisdom I wish to share with our readers / followers is: ACCOUNTABILITY. Websters defines accountability (pananagutan) as “the quality or state of being accountable; especially : an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions.”

Chiropractic and Gastritis, natural options

Chiropractic and Gastritis, natural options

Early college year exam stress has Christian Welling doubling over with stomach pains. The doctors say he has gastritis. Why is it that when people undergo stress that some people get stomach problems like gastritis or GERD, while others get headaches or others experience diarrhea or still something else? Since 1895 Chiropractic has understood that these problems may be tied to nerve interferences that result from spinal misalignments, called Vertebral Subluxations.

As we look at the chart of the Autonomic Nervous System it illustrates the pathways for the Sympathetic (yellow)  and Parasympathetic (blue) nerve groupings. Continue reading

What are natural solutions for a Lipoma?

What are natural solutions for a Lipoma?

lipomaEver feel a lump under the skin and worried if it was cancer or a tumor? Well that is exactly what Paul Welling had feared. Having undergone years of perfectly normal annual check ups, Paul was told he had a small lump growing on his back. Alarmed he underwent some checks and was relieved to hear that there were no signs of cancer and this it was just a lipoma.

So what was this lump? It turned out to be a lipoma, a fatty tumor. That sounds ominous when the term tumor is used by a doctor. The truth is there are three type of tumors, the cancerous types, even worst are the metastatic types; and then there are the benign ones. Fortunately the lipoma is the latter, a benign growth. So what is a lipoma? Continue reading

President Duterte’s Neck Problem

President Duterte’s Neck Problem

President Duterte is frequently seen on TV being interviewed or making speeches and he has what may seem to some as a nervous tic on the right side of his neck. Looking at this interview photo we see, as we see so many times, how he props up the right side of his head.

pres-duterte-neck As a spinal expert I see that as a sign of cervical instability. Chiropractors learn a lot about body biomechanics, biochemistry, physiology above most other physicians in order to perform our duty as holistic, naturalistic and vitalistic doctors in the care of our patients. One such focus is body positioning.

I propose that one day President Duterte will undergo a full and proper chiropractic evaluaton, and once the underlying neck problem is identified, we may look for this physical behavior to improve and for the President to have a healthy neck again. Continue reading

Fat Vs. Thin Imagery Worth Seeing

Fat Vs. Thin imagery worth seeing

fat-mriAs America is about to celebrate its annual Thanksgiving Holiday this month and as there are 101 reasons to retouch this topic, people really need to confront the reality that being fat is not good for your health. Governments are stepping up the aversion factors in cigarette labelling requiring pictures of lung cancer to be displayed on the outer packaging of cigarette boxes. Imagine if we really looked the same economic and disease reality of obesity, as we do tobacco, what would the food labels of tomorrow look like? An interesting thought. Continue reading

Leg pain and the Piriformis Syndrome

Leg pain and the Piriformis Syndrome

Slipped disks, pinched nerves and misaligned vertebra or twisted pelvis are commonly associated with leg pain. The one cause that is often overlooked is the Piriformis Syndrome.

Often, when a patient presents themselves to a doctor with this kind of leg pain the examination is limited to the lumbar spine. Big mistake! The pelvis is frequently involved either directly or indirectly as a complicating factor in leg pain conditions; and this includes the piriformis muscle. Continue reading
